PART TIME PROJECT ACCOUNTS OFFICER

Grade 4:  Salary £18,710 - £21,681 p.a.

Young Lives is a research project, funded by DFID, on childhood poverty investigating the changing nature of childhood poverty in Ethiopia, India (Andhra Pradesh), Peru and Vietnam. Its purpose is to improve understanding of the causes and consequences of childhood poverty, in order to inform effective policy development and targeting of child welfare interventions. Young Lives, based in the Department of International Development (QEH), is looking for a part-time project accounts officer to work with the YL research group in Oxford and to liaise with the teams overseas.  The postholder’s duties will include processing invoices, making payments overseas, monitoring the project budgets and advising the Programme Manager on financial matters.  Applicants should have previous accounts experience and well developed Excel skills, excellent interpersonal skills, be well organised and able to meet tight deadlines.  Previous experience of Oracle would be useful although training will be given if necessary. 

The post is for 14-18 hours a week and is to start as soon as possible, initially until the end of June 2009.
