Grade 4: Salary £18,710 - £21,681 p.a.
Young Lives is a long-term research project, funded by DFID, on childhood poverty investigating the changing nature of childhood poverty in Ethiopia, India (Andhra Pradesh), Peru and Vietnam. Its purpose is to improve understanding of the causes and consequences of childhood poverty, in order to inform effective policy development and targeting of child welfare interventions. Young Lives is launching the findings from its second round of data collection. This is an exciting time and will involve the publication of approximately 30 working papers, 15 technical notes and policy briefs, and other research outputs, including abstracts and papers for an international conference to be held in Oxford in March 2009. A Publications Assistant is required to work with researchers and policy staff in Oxford and the four study countries, to liaise with freelance editors and designers to ensure the smooth delivery of this ambitious publications programme, and also assist in wider project communications work.
Applicants' qualifications should include excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, and previous production experience for both print and electronic formats, and excellent interpersonal skills.
This full time post runs until 30 June 2009. Applications from individuals wanting to work part-time (minimum 3 days/week with a pro rata salary) will be considered.
