Kirrily Pells
Brief biography
Kirrily joined UCL Institute of Education as a Lecturer in Childhood in December 2015. She teaches on the MA Sociology of Childhood and Children's Rights. Her research focuses on childhoods globally and children's rights especially in relation to poverty, development and conflict. Her PhD explored rights-based approaches with children and young people in post-conflict situations with a case study on Rwanda.
Previously, Kirrily was leading Young Lives policy engagement on gender and adolescence. She continues to work with Young Lives on research and policy work related to violence affecting children. This includes collaborating with UNICEF on the Multi-Country Study of Drivers of Violence Affecting Children and working with the Ethiopia team on a study on preventing violence affecting children in Ethiopia.
