Sofia received her PhD in Biopsychology from the University of Michigan in 2023. Her dissertation research examined the relationship between cortisol (the "stress" hormone), reproduction, and survival in wild primates. Now as a postdoctoral researcher at Northwestern University, she is examining the links between early-life adversity and development in humans.
With the Young Lives team, Sofia has implemented a "stress study" to evaluate how an individual's cortisol levels relate to mental health, current stressors in life, and previous stressors in childhood.
